Contemporary India witnesses a flourish of art practices all around, in all directions, and yet there is a visible lack in understanding of its histories and theories. Keeping in mind the need among the contemporary art practitioners, NINE Schools of Art has designed this workshop that engages with Art History and its relationship with Art Practices. The 4-day workshop is targeted at young practitioners and enthusiasts of art and deals with the fundamental questions and explanations.

Sustainnine - The Thela Project aims to sustain NINE Schools of Art as it seeks to build a practice of workshop based art education and to create an open space for art, theory and praxis.
In reference to the traditions from Nandan Mela (Shantiniketan), Fine Arts Fair (Baroda) and Sahamat (Delhi), we will be devoting 4 days (8th Feb to 12th Feb) making pretty much any thing we want to make and contribute to the NINE thela. Its is an invitation to share skills, space, energies and fun.
'Dialogic' at Nine Schools of Art is a monthly session with creative and critical minds. The artists' presentation followed by discussion, debate and conversations open up newer dialogues into the contemporary discourses

different art projects ranging from workshops, seminars to films,
performances, exhibitions & publications.Along with that Pi was the initiator for  s KOLKATA INTERNATIONAL PERFORMANCE ART FESTIVAL (ikipaf.blogspot.in). KIPAF is one of the pioneer performance art festivals in India, and subsequently has taken an independent organisational life of its own.

PRACforum workshops and outreach

This exercise, initiated by PRACforum Delhi (Professionals in Art and Curation), will bring together curators and art professionals from across the country and beyond to discuss issues related to the practical and the critical aspects of their practice. The session will benefit from the presence of a large number of national and international curators and art professionals ;who will be in the city for the opening of the Kochi-Muziris Biennale..
Built around four main themes, the aim of the workgroup is to create a social yet professional space for discussion where curators present in Kochi will interact, network and exchange perspectives and experiences. The model adopted for it is inspired by a workshop held at Sarai/CSDS (Delhi; 2012) by the research unit CRUMB (Curatorial Resources for Upstart Media Bliss) where critical discussion was triggered by practical experiences of both presenters and participants.

Curatorial workshop leading to a open house . A Professionals in Art and Curation initiative.
Conceived and structured by ten curators, '3 sentences on the curatorial' consists of multiple subsets of reflections and collisions in their practices. The exercise is positioned as an encounter with the self, with exhibition space, and with curatorial practices. Each curator selects and responds to the others' propositions, quotes or proposes objects, texts, artists and artworks.

Conceived as a marketing and promotional platform for the movie Rang Rasia, The Rang Rasiya Freedom of Expression Art Competition aims to bring about a socio cultural movement which discovers new talent, and brings contemporary art into the discursive domain of the middle class. It attempts to create a domain for contemporary art outside the current dominant systems. Working in network partnerships with galleries, auction houses and state run art institutions, the competition aims to bridge the aesthetics of the common man with ‘high art’ tradition in the true spirit of the master painter Raja Ravi Varma.
